Careers

A career in care…

At Monarch we believe that all of our carers are important and have something unique to offer service users. You may have particular skills that are waiting to be unlocked in the social and health care arena. All care jobs have important things in common: they involve helping people live their lives in different ways.

Your attitude, reliability and maturity are often more important than formal qualifications in home care service provision. Experience is valued; however, you will succeed in care if you have the right attitude to people and to work. You will be given the support you need prior to starting, when you begin work, and monitoring, assessment and assistance as you progress..

The service users we work with include the following groups:

  • adults over the age of 65 years
  • adults under the age of 65 years
  • adults with learning disabilities
  • adults with mental health issues
  • caring for adults with dementia

Full training and induction are given prior to commencement of duties. Within 6 months of starting, you will also be enrolled on a NVQ Level 2 in Care or an equivalent qualification, if you do not already hold one. To gain an NVQ in care you will be assessed in your normal work setting, performing familiar tasks to the required standards. You will be assigned an assessor who will assist and coach you with all aspects of the qualification. You will also have the support of your supervisor/line manager for this and any training you undertake. Furthermore, there may be the opportunity to do further training and further NVQs in Care. This may open up further career development opportunities.
